Porsche 911s from the early 2000s, often referred to as 996s, with their odd, cracked egg-like headlights, have never garnered the interest other Porsches have. Yet there’s something oddly captivating about the 996 Jalopnik discovered on Craigslist recently. The “Safari Rally Car” comes in a drab olive color and those fried egg headlights are made all the more noticeable thanks to yellow covers. Open the door and things don’t calm down, as the seats look like they were made from old pairs of John Daly’s pants. Yet all this quirkiness is somehow captivating. While the price tag is far higher than most 996s ($45,000), we’d love to take this thing to a dirt track, and that’s just what one lucky person will get to do.
