Niki Lauda’s 1975 Ferrari 312T Goes Up For Auction

Niki Lauda was one of the Formula 1 greats, having won the championship three times. He passed away on May 20, 2019. One of his own race cars will hit the auction block later this summer. The Ferrari 312T from 1975 was the same car he used to win his first F1 championship, and it’s a vintage stunner. Powered by a booming flat-12 engine, the lightweight race car was good for a little over 500 horsepower and still stand today as one of the brand’s best. It also happens to be one out of a mere five of the “transversale” Grand Prix cars made in 1975. The beautiful red and white racing livery is as bold today as back when it took podium. The tall air intake, dramatically staggered tires setup, manual gearbox, and a sliver of a windscreen remind us of how much F1 cars have changed since then. The fact that the highly skilled Lauda helmed this 312T makes it even more special. The lucky auction winner will own a legend, driven by an even bigger legend. Gooding & Company will handle the auction this coming August.
