Set to officially happen at the Tokyo Motor Show from October 28–November 8, the Mitsubishi Evolution is coming back… kind of. Evolution in name only at this point, as the new vehicle dubbed “e-Evolution” is an electric concept crossover with a low-slung, coupe-like SUV body and an electric, four-wheel drive powertrain. Outside of the one incredibly dark teaser image that Mitsubishi released and the fact that it’s electric, there aren’t really any other details available. Which brings us back to the whole “at this point” comment from earlier. Is this is a rally racing sedan that will live up to the Evo the brand just killed off? We have no way of knowing that. Yeah, it’s an electric crossover, which immediately makes you think soccer practice, but if that was the case, why does it only appear to have two doors? We’re not saying we’re going to love the thing when it gets revealed—or if it ever even gets produced—but an electric “four door family sedan” just won a drag race with almost $2 million of super cars. If done right, the e-Evolution could be more fun than the car it borrowed its name from.
