Formula E electric racing is a reality, and Mercedes will join an ever-growing field of manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Jaguar, and Porsche. And the German brand will bring is super-futuristic EQ Silver Arrow 01 to the field with power (340 horsepower), acceleration (0-60 mph in 2.7 sec), and seriously winged Batmobile looks for the 2019-2020 season. The car uses a Sony/McLaren 52-kWh battery pack and a chassis made by Spark Racing Technology and Italy’s Dallara with its strong racing background. The name points to Mercedes’ past from the 1937 W125 Silver Arrow open-wheel racer, that just so happens to look absolutely nothing like this stealth-fighter of a racecar with its twin spoilers, huge wheel arches, and a driver cage that’s meant to enhance safety. Expect this very automobile to take off later this year in a livery that’s not nearly as sinister as the one you see here.
