The Lordstown, Ohio-based automaker wants to bring an electric truck to the masses, but they want to put their mettle to the test in extreme conditions first. Lordstown Motors has been rigorously testing its skateboard platform (sans-body) in all kinds of conditions. Now, they plan on taking their completed Endurance Race Truck to the San Felipe 250 off-road race in April. While the finished product bears similarity to their pickup truck prototype for the public, it’s got to take on some pretty tough terrain. It gets beefed-up suspension bits, a full roll cage, larger black fender flares, upsized wheels and tires, a strip of LED driving lights in the front fascia, and highly bolstered racing seats. It will be the first EV to enter the 290-mile race, but the truck only has 250 miles of range under normal driving conditions. That said, it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll charge the 600-hp electric truck during the race.
