Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept

Lexus just dropped a doozie of a concept car that points to their future… and it’s pure electric. The LF-30 that just debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show uses four in-wheel motors that propel it to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. More importantly, the small motors allow for a more adventurous design because space normally allocated to a gas or single electric motor can be used for other purposes, as you can see with the deeply sculpted gullwing doors and the huge cabin. Inside, the technology allows minimal distraction for the driver thanks to augmented reality and hand gesture control. There’s also a large head-up display and numerous steering wheel controls for driver focus. And if he doesn’t want to focus, the LF-30 can go into autonomous mode, too. The LF-30 even gets its own autonomous “Airporter” drone that will transport your luggage from door to trunk automatically, and it doesn’t even have to wear a bellman’s hat. The LF-30 might never get built in the form you see here, but it’s a sign of things to come from the brand, who wants to have some form of electrification in all its vehicles by 2025.
