LEGO Life-Size McLaren Senna

When it was released, the McLaren Senna more than lived up to its hype as their ‘most extreme road legal car’ and sold out almost instantly despite the $1mil+ price tag. How do you follow that up? If you’re McLaren, you ring up your Danish friends at LEGO to build a life-size version of it. It has a real driver’s seat, steering wheel and pedals, along with functional infotainment, lights and a gas pedal you can use to rev the “engine.” It isn’t driveable like the full-size LEGO Bugatti Chiron, but it’s no less impressive. Almost 500,000 pieces were combined by a team of LEGO builders that clocked over 2,725 hours build time working round the clock in shifts. When you factor in design and development time by both teams, that’s number almost 5,000 hours. In other words, it took nine times longer to build the LEGO McLaren Senna, and it also weighs more than 1,100 pounds more. If you want to see this truly impressive feat in person so you can sit in it, it will be heading out on a world tour of events later this year.
