When you think of ICON 4X4, awesome off-road restomod versions of Ford Broncos and Toyota FJs come to mind, but this time the L.A. shop has delivered something altogether different. Their ‘Derelict’ 1949 Hudson Coupe started as a North Carolina “barn find”, and after meticulous restoration has resulted in a special flavor that melds the past with a ferocious present. Though it retains some of the vintage look and feel with crackled paint and pitted bumper chrome, the interior gets totally reworked with premium materials like wool, alligator leather, LED lighting, and CNC aluminum trim. Under the hood is a huge 6.2-liter supercharged V8 good for 638 horsepower, and the Derelict also gets a new automatic transmission, new suspension, and powerful Brembo brakes to stop all the mass with authority. The final product retains the classic Hudson look and gives it opulent appointments with an attitude, as well as imbuing it with intimidating performance.
