Ford just pulled the covers off their most radical vehicle since the Ford GT, and it’s called the Mustang Mach-E. That’s right. It borrows styling elements from the muscle car, but it’s an electric crossover that’s going to go up against the Tesla Model Y. With muscular features and numerous power options, the Mach-E ushers in a new generation of Ford vehicles when it debuts in 2020 with its styling, performance, and interior design and technology. The base Mach-E gets a 5.7-kWh battery and a single electric rear-wheel drive engine for 255 horsepower and 230 miles of range. All-wheel drive gets a second motor that adds more torque, but the range drops to 210. Upgrade to a 98.8kWh battery pack and the RWD version gets 282 horsepower with a 300+ mile range while the AWD version gets 332 horsepower 270-miles of range. Then there’s the top-end GT and GT Performance models with 459 horsepower, which will bow in 2021. Inside, the Mach-E shows off the next-generation of Ford interiors with clean styling and an enormous 15.5″ center touchscreen. Ford plans to use the Mustang as the platform to launch more vehicles, and the Mach-E looks like a brilliant start. Ford is taking deposits now.
