There’s a new-ish Italian open-top electric car with patio furniture for seats. Garage Italia has turned a vintage Fiat 500 into an EV that plucks at our retro heartstrings in the best of ways. The impetus behind the effort was to merge modern tech with vintage style, and the finished product is pretty sweet. As part of the Icon-e project, the little Italian car had its roof removed, and its doors have been replaced by stanchion-type ropes that are Paparazzi-ready as you exit. The seats are covered in grey woven rope for a unique look and feel that beckons the arrival of summer. On the flipside, the little EV gets its own electric motor that’s mated to the original gearbox (and cute tortoise/hare icons on the shift knob). A digital gauge cluster, LED headlights, and a charging port underneath the brand badge round out the modern touches. Look for future mods like this from Garage Italia as part of the Icon-e project’s efforts. We can’t wait.
