Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has taken an already superlative Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and turned it into a work of art. The Aero 3 uses the chassis, electronics, and mechanicals and then adds a lightweight carbon fiber body with a huge rear fin that evokes the company’s aerodynamic legacy that dates back to the 1930s. The use of CF actually helps the Aero 3 drop about 331 pounds compared to the donor car, which puts the Aero 3 at just over 3,200 pounds. The lack of rear glass, no doubt helps drop weight, and it adds an element of beauty. The lack of an actual rearward view is mitigated by cameras, of course. The fin extends from the greenhouse roof all the way to the back of the car and continues down between the two huge exhaust ports. The spoiler that intersects with the fin makes use of vintage angle markings on the fin, a wonderful nod to the past. Power comes from the same potent 6.2-liter V12 with 730 horsepower, but since the power-to-weight ratio is better in the Aero 3, performance should be even better. Only 15 of these beauties will be made at an as yet undisclosed price that should easily eclipse the F12’s original $320K.
