Cake’s first two bikes, the sold out Kalk Limited Edition and the Kalk OR, are designed for off-road pleasures of the green kind, but aside from recreation and rural utility, they had to remain off pavement. The newly announced Kalk& is just that: knobby-tired off-road capability coupled with updated gearing and increased top speed for freeway jaunts and city traffic. Though full specs haven’t been released yet, we know that Cake prides themselves on building their electric motorcycles from the ground up, using no off-the-shelf components but developing them from a blank slate. Materials like carbon fiber and aerospace aluminum make for lightness and rigidity, and the simple design is beautifully minimalist. Cake has given the Kalk& updates from tip to toe, so it should provide speed, ruggedness, and efficiency all around. The Kalk& should by torquey and fast, if previous models are any indication, so morning commutes could take on new meaning for you, and you’ll never have to fill up again. Look for the Kalk& to go on sale this March.
