Sometimes it pays to do things differently. That’s exactly what BMW Motorrad has done in partnership with Revival Cycles, a Texas-based motorcycle builder and restorer. The Revival Birdcage nabs one of the top spots for most original bike build, at least in our minds. Oddly enough, this retro-bike is actually built around BMW Motorrad’s new boxer engine, but you wouldn’t know by looking at the thing which seems to meld Eiffel Tower, art deco airplane fuselage, fat bike wheels, and the horns of a water buffalo. The entire frame is built with titanium, and it’s all been crafted to look transparent, a divergence from most modern motos. What’s more, just about every part has been originally crafted for the Birdcage, including the crazy handlebars, the knob shift lever, and the carbon suspension components. Thanks to the power of the prototype boxer engine, the Birdcage isn’t just stunning to behold but righteously quick. But we can’t imagine putting this piece of rolling art out on the road for fear of damaging a singularly special bike build. The bike was unveiled this past weekend at the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin, TX.
