B.A.T. Alfa Trinity Auction

Rarely do concept cars of this nature go up for sale, much less three icons known as the B.A.T. (Berlinetta Aerodynamica Technica) Alfa Trinity. These three design masterpieces were created by Italy’s Bertone design house and bowed at the Turin Auto show in succession from 1953 to 1955. Although they look like cars from a vintage Mars movie, they were built to show off remarkable achievements in automotive design and aerodynamics. All three of them, the B.A.T. 5, B.A.T. 7, and B.A.T. 9, sport huge vents, dramatic wings, long tapered greenhouses, and covered wheels to cut the wind. The first time all three were seen together was over thirty years later at the 1989 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and shortly after a single owner amassed all three cars. The trio is about to go up for a historic auction at RM Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Auction in New York on October 28th. They’re being sold together and should fetch a hefty sum worthy of these singular automobiles.
