Heading across the block as part of Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Auctions on August 18/19, this truck is a rare surviving example of Alfa Romeo’s versatile military vehicle. Originally delivered new to the Italian army, this Matta (a variation on the Italian word for crazy) has passed through a few private collector’s hands since then and was ultimately put through the ringer for a comprehensive restoration to military standards. This Matta is titled in California and comes with tools (jack, tool roll, pick axe, shovel, gas can) and a collection of original documentation. We can’t even imagine the kind of trouble we’d get into with this crazy truck parked in the garage.
