Acura MDX Concept

Acura MDX Concept

This is one of the few concepts that’s about as production-ready as it gets. The best-selling model in Acura’s history gets dressed to kill for its fourth-generation with more sinew, power, and size. Less rounded than the current MDX, the new face is more aggressive and sporty, while the curvaceous sheet metal of the body has more presence than ever before. Much of it mimics the style of the new TLX, most notably the “Chicane” headlight and taillight signatures. Under the hood is a new engine for the MDX Type S: a 3.0-liter turbo V6 that’s in the new TLX Type S sedan that’s good for 355 horsepower. The base engine carries over in the form of a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower. Acura’s 10-speed automatic transmission does shifting duties to all four wheels, and the MDX benefits from the brand’s fourth-generation SH-AWD (Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. Inside is a digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment system, and even optional 16-way massaging front seats. The new MDX should be awfully close to the concept, if not identical, and it should prove to be the roomiest, best-driving MDX in forever. The production model should bow soon, and sales will commence in 2021 as a 2022 model.
