A Collection of Rare European Exotic Cars Is Heading to Auction

When it comes to auctions of large car collections, there aren’t many as impressive as the Petitjean Collection that’s heading to auction next month. Monsieur Marcel Petitjean is an ex-competitive racer that assembled a collection of almost 100 cars over the past five decades in order to start an automotive museum. The museum never quite materialized, so now the 96 cars from the likes of Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz are all being sold by RM Sotheby’s. The current estimate for the entire collection is around $10 million. With the incredible rarity of some of the vehicles in the collection–like the 1955 Aston Martin DB2, 1968 Lamborghini Miura, 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo, the 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster (which is expected to fetch over $1 million itself)–we see that $10 million estimate being a little on the low side. The online only RM Sotheby’s auction that includes the entire Petitjean Collection kicks off on June 3rd and runs until June 10th.
