Can you really call a 700+ horsepower, rear-wheel drive muscled beast of a car just a “pony car”? In the case of the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which just bowed at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, the term “monster car” clearly needs to be considered. In a long line of special edition Shelby Mustangs, this one will reign supreme in terms of output, performance, and that all important crap-your-pants factor. The big supercharged V8 mill should hurtle the car (and your crushed organs) to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and nail the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds. The look won’t be conventional ‘Stang, either. The fascia is mean as hell with its new grille, gaping hood vent, and big front splitter. Oh, and it also comes angry 20″ black wheels, a line lock for proper billows of tire smoke, and a rear camera because the 747-like adjustable wing will block your view, otherwise.
