1996 Ford Indigo Concept

1996 Ford Indigo Concept

We love concept cars because the guard rails of convention sometimes get totally disregarded, as in the case of the 1996 Ford Indigo. The Indigo was a crazy-fast open-wheel race car with a giant bladed front end and a huge wing to create downforce, as well as huge swan doors to create drama. Only three were built, and only one of them had an engine, a monster 435-horsepower V12. The other two had no engines and were sold to private parties almost two decades ago. This one is up for sale in Detroit, and it’s only been put on display (it obviously can’t be driven… yet). It’s in pristine condition and can take on a new powertrain and drivetrain, and it also has the original tires and seatbelts. A creative owner can turn this thing into a track monster. We doubt there’s traction control, stability control, or ABS, so watch out.
