You don’t have to know a lick about Alpina, the German car manufacturer that specializes in further refining BMWs, in order to appreciate this rare vintage Alpina B7 Turbo Coupé/3 that took the iconic ‘80s 6-Series and infused it with more style and more power. Only 17 of these beauties were crafted by Alpina, and you’d be hard-pressed to find one, much less track one down in this condition. RM Sotheby’s is auctioning this very special car, and it symbolizes what Alpina has done so well for half a century. The understated but still very sporty exterior gets a handsome aftermarket “Autosattlerei Wenger, Exklusiv Interieur” cabin with red leather sport bucket seats and pretty much red everywhere else, which pop nicely against the black paint. More of a sports coupe than a sports car, the low end grunt from the 324 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque makes the B7 Turbo Coupé a blast to drive, coupled with the slick 5-speed manual transmission. But more than anything else, it’s the coupe’s rarefied status that makes it so coveted. It should fetch a pretty penny from the winning bidder.
