You’ve seen it before. It’s a lovely summer day at the lake, lots of trucks with boats on trailers backing them into the water with something called a boat launch. Couple of guys in the water trying to get the boat situated without it floating away. Come on, does that sound fun? Well, maybe it does. But for $150,000 you can have this genuine 1943 VW Schwimmwagen and drive right into the lake while winking at the other boater’s women. Highly coveted by collectors, it was used during the second World War by the German army and is fully restored to original condition. This curious creation by VW has 4-wheel drive (in first gear only) and a propeller that drops down for amphibious activities. Oddly enough, the propeller only went in one direction, so no reverse. Now we know why there are paddles attached. Also attached is a very large (non-functioning of course) machine gun. Das schwimmwagen.
