Fernando Abellanas is a self-taught designer out of Spain that responded to the current urban space shortage in Valencia by building his own private workspace under a bridge. The furniture designer that practices as Lebrel used a unique crank system with wheels and a sliding base to create a movable workspace platform that can be moved from one side of the bridge to the other. The underpass studio workspace includes a desk, shelves, chair and enough space to hold some knick-knacks, a lamp and enough space to sleep if you want to take a nap, under a bridge, during the day. Is it a little far-fetched to consider building something like this in the United States? Without a doubt. But at the same time, we long to have a hidden workspace under a bridge we could retreat to when the need arises, and Abellanas has delivered on that with his unique floating space under a bridge in Valencia, Spain.
