The Latest R2-D2 LEGO Set Is the Most Advanced Yet

We’ve spent more of our adult lives building LEGO Star Wars sets than we’d care to talk about, but as long as the iconic and popular brick builder keeps churning out sets like this latest R2-D2 edition, we’re gonna keep building. To be fair, this isn’t the first LEGO R2-D2 set the brand has released, but it is by far the most exceptionally detailed with over 2,300+ pieces and an age rating higher than the latest Mortal Kombat movie. This adult-oriented set is new for this year and includes everything you need to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Lucasfilm while constructing your own foot-and-a-half tall, 7.5″ wide and 6″ deep replica of everyone’s favorite droid from the original Star Wars trilogy. In addition to being impressive in both size and stature, it includes a “retractable mid-leg, rotating head, opening and extendable front hatches and adjustable periscope, plus a lightsaber hidden in a compartment in the head–in addition to a buildable display stand with an information plaque, LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 LEGO droid figure and a special Lucasfilm 50th anniversary LEGO brick.” The 2021 LEGO R2-D2 Set will be released in just a couple weeks on May 1st.
