Whether you’re talking about the easy access to the fjords, the stunning landscapes or incredible experiences like the Underwater Restaurant, Norway is a place that should be on every jetsetter’s must-visit list. One other such must-visit destination is the Øyna Cultural Landscape Hotel near Straumen in central Norway. Situated on a natural hill with a view over the surrounding terrain and the Trondheim fjord, this family-owned facility has recently transformed from a restaurant with conference and event space to a fully fledged hotel with almost two dozen rooms that are built into the landscape that surrounds them. The uppermost level still contains all the public spaces while the overnight rooms were built into the slope below it with naturally landscaped roofs and an underground corridor for access. If the entire space wasn’t so picturesque we’d almost declare it a compound worthy of a Bond villain with a green thumb.
