Monopoly: Shinola Detroit Edition

Monopoly: Shinola Detroit Edition

While there are a lot of games that pop into our head when we think of “board games,” the first will always be Monopoly. In addition to ruining more friendly gatherings and family holidays than we can remember, it’s also had more versions than any other game we can think of. And now, it’s Shinola’s turn to take their crack at a special Detroit Edition of Monopoly. The Monopoly: Shinola Detroit Edition pays homage to the Motor City with a few changes like Woodward Avenue and Bagley Street for some of the properties, and The Kresge Foundation and Motorcity Casino in lieu of Chance and Community Chest. The Monopoly pieces included in this edition are the piggy bank, iron, racecar, pocket watch, turntable and dog, so there’s a mix of familiar and new exclusives. As with all things Shinola, it’s completely over-the-top (in a good way) in terms of the overall design and construction because the game board is made of solid mahogany and designed to store all the updated game parts. As you might expect, all that quality comes at a cost. The Monopoly: Shinola Detroit Edition costs twenty times as much as the standard game.
