James Jannard is the founder of Oakley and Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, an owner of multiple islands and now, the proud inhabitant of his very own Bond lair in the Trousdale section of Beverly Hills. Working with the firm iDGroup, this brutalist citadel was constructed with exposed concrete and aluminum over a period of five years and spans 18,000 square ft in a single story (because of pesky neighborhood ordinances). While it’s hard to call any individual detail of this property small, there are some incredibly interesting things that don’t immediately jump out at you. Los Angeles is reflected in the retractable glass wall next to the infinity pool. The free-standing fireplace chimney looks like something out of an ’80s steampunk film. The light fixtures and furniture they illuminate—most of which were designed in collaboration with Jannard’s own designers and the iDGroup—are the kind of uniquely beautiful pieces that people who already own pieces from Restoration Hardware would aspire to own. There’s even a raised entry area that sits above the living area that doubles as a display pedestal for Jannard’s Confederate Motors motorcycle. We can’t even imagine what the parties would be like at this place, but we’re sure it will end up in a movie sometime in the near future.
