Instead of a rugged Filson product you can wear or carry, how about one you can drink on a chilly winter’s eve? The American outdoor apparel brand just collaborated with Seattle’s Westland Distillery to create a single malt whiskey the American way, along with a corresponding line of similarly branded Filson goods.
The spirit was inspired by the Klondike Gold Rush that helped birth Filson and gets its namesake from a prospector’s camp deep into Alaska where the Arctic Circle begins. A mere 200 out of 2,000 men stuck around to find their fortunes in the harsh climes. The remaining 1,800 got “cold feet”, as it were. The whiskey celebrates their pioneering spirit with a rich distillation. More peaty than smoky and low on the sweetness, the dry-style sherry cask whiskey imparts flavors of marble rye, cacao, dried blueberry, and espresso. The gear and the whiskey will go on sale starting February 20th at a price of $100.
