Built as an extension of the Bon Vivant house in the Mosman, New South Wales area of Sydney, this is a boathouse we’d live in full time. The project was a collaboration between Sarah Davison Interior Design and architect John Bohane based on a client brief: “design a home which maximizes fun, comfort, and an easy indoor-outdoor Sydney lifestyle.” The house itself is gorgeous, but we’re most taken by the boathouse out back that serves as an adult clubhouse. A corrugated siding exterior is perfectly contrasted with a warm wood interior that’s exposed to the outside world via a collapsible overhang, folding slat doors and openings near the vaulted roof line at both ends of the structure. The idyllic interior also features a huge bed, built-in couch and two chairs for guests, along with a wood burning stove, hanging lanterns and a sink in the creature comforts department. And when you want to get clean, just jump off the back deck into the water. Here’s hoping this boathouse ends up on Airbnb before the next trip to Sydney.
