‘Black Villa’ is a Hidden Escape in New York

We’ve seen plenty of modern architectural builds that are much more focused on the form and function of it all–as it relates to the surroundings–than the actually ability of any resident to enjoy the space. That is most certainly not the case with designer / architect extraordinaire Reza Mohtashami’s ‘Black Villa’ in New York. This luxurious hillside home is located just a few done miles north of New York City in New York’s second-largest state park and is built on the simple, yet decidedly difficult to execute principle of marrying living space with the nature around it. In practice, Mohtashami’s ‘Black Villa’ combines a multi-level, blackened concrete exterior with natural growing spaces to create a livable space seamlessly blends into the foliage around it. Add in plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows, a perfectly-outfitted kitchen, exposed rock wall, built-in furniture, fireplaces and wood accents to create a damn near perfectly idyllic experience for anyone lucky enough to stay there.
