You won’t find Alvaro Tapia’s work in the Musee d’Orsay or on any museum wall surrounded by the works of impressionistic masters. Where you can find it is on your home office wall, displayed besides your flat-screen TV or in any makeshift home theater you are trying to build. “Realistic” is probably not the first word that comes to mind when you first lay eye on the pop artist’s work, but that notion seems to have been all but removed from the modern art dictionary anyway so why just toss some photographs on your wall when Tapia can be your interior decorator. Choose either posters or art prints (or greeting cards if you have a friend with bizarre taste like you) of Edgar Allen Poe, Taxi Drive, or another random depiction. We can safely say it is the only time someone will call Steve Buscemi a thing of beauty.
