The Shokunin is a serious grill for the serious outdoor cook. First of all, it’s a U.S. made, hand-welded and hand-assembled Kamado grill that generates insane temperatures thanks to its shape, insulation, and air circulation. Kamados use ancient Japanese cooking techniques that utilize wood or coal to fuel the burn, and the Shokunin seems it might one-up the legendary Big Green egg via its increased usable cooking surface area, substantial 304-grade stainless steel construction, and two-inch thick insulation that allows the Shokunin to reach temps of more than 1,200 degrees while keeping the exterior cool enough to touch. The super-dense and weather-resistant Ipe wood handle and artful legs top off this handsome but heavy (200 pounds) grill, and it’s one that’s constructed to last for years. The asking price hasn’t been announced yet, but it’ll easily be worthy of the Kobe Wagyu, Bluefin Tuna, or Black Iberian pig that the Shokunin will make you want to fire up. The Shokunin goes on sale this summer.
