When it comes right down to it, we’re the kind of guys that will drink whiskey or beer over any other alcoholic option most days of the week. We love a classic gin and tonic, but we don’t really care if the spirit is Hendricks, Tanqueray, Bombay, Aviation because even the best gins generally taste the same. That’s not the case with Ethical Spirits and their REVIVE craft compound gin. The Coronavirus has impacted all of us in every unfortunately way imaginable, but it’s also led to an incredibly enormous surplus of beer. Anheuser-Busch’s Japan division devised an interesting plan to put that oversupply to good use–team up with Tokyo-based distiller Ethical Spirits to recycle 80,000 Budweiser beers into a thicker, more flavor-forward gin accented by juniper berries, lemon peels, cinnamon, hops and beechwood chips. We can’t believe we’re about to say this, but this gin takes all the inherent flavors of a Bud and elevates it to the next level thanks to all the other ingredients. REVIVE Gin is available now from Ethical Spirits Japan, but that means having a mule to get it stateside. We hope it eventually lands on our shores, but it’s worth sourcing a bottle internationally if you’re into gin.
