Knob Creek is celebrating the holidays this year with a new and special iteration of their award-winning rye whiskey. As you might have guessed by the name, this is Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey (2016 International Wine and Spirits Competition Best Rye Worldwide Whiskey) that’s been secondarily finished in new, charred American oak barrels. And not just any charred American oak barrels, level 4 char barrels, aka “alligator char” because of its resemblance to alligator skin. This secondary finish adds a powerful oaky aroma with notes of brown sugar, vanilla and nutmeg, along with a well-rounded sweet taste punctuated with notes of toasted wood and warm baking spices. According to Fred Noe, Beam Family 7th Generation Master Distiller, “I’ve enjoyed experimenting with unique ways to amplify our classic rye whiskey to give whiskey fans something new and exciting, and I think we’ve done just that with Knob Creek Twice Barreled Rye.” In other words, it’s a great rye whiskey to share with friends and family this holiday season.
