Famed distillery Ardbeg, located on the Scottish isle of Islay, might not be a household name, but it’s well-beloved by in-the-know Scotch drinkers. Established in 1815, Ardbeg has won dozens of awards for its trademark smoky single malt whisky. To this day, Ardbeg retains a cult-like status and has devotees around the world. Despite the hardships of the past two years, Ardbeg has given cause for celebration by releasing batch 3 of its highly coveted Traigh Bhan, a 19-year-old whisky. Batch 3 of Traigh Bhan (pronounced TRI VAN) features a rose gold color after nearly two decades of aging in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a smoky complex Scotch with peppery spice notes, a floral sweetness, and some nuttiness. It’s an extremely special whisky that is sure to please any Scotch fan. Bottles of Traigh Bhan batch 3 should start to hit retail shelves in the next few weeks and will be available online. And while some might balk at the $300 price tag, it’s a small price to pay for one of the best Scotch whiskies on the market.
