Marvel’s current Netflix offerings don’t shy away from violence, but they also don’t generally follow hyper violent people. Sure Wilson Fisk decapitated a man with a car door, Luke Cage has a bullet explode inside him, and Jessica Jones investigates violent crime, but those are all snippets from larger, tamer shows. The Punisher is absolutely not going to be like that. His time in Daredevil‘s second season started with him gunning down a whole room of gangsters in gory detail and, any time he was on screen, the potential for violence stayed high. Now that he’s getting his own show, we get to watch his righteous murder spree as he would conduct it, untempered by a blind Catholic. Needless to say, we’re excited. Expect not only great action, but great acting from Jon Bernthal and his supporting cast, cinematography worth drooling over, and tight writing. Basically, everything you’d want in a Marvel Netflix series. There’s no specific release date as of yet, but 2017 is a guarantee, so at least we get that.
