There’s been a bit of a lull in Edgar Wright’s career since his ill-fated but apparently glorious Ant-Man script. The last movie he made was The World’s End back in 2013 when he closed out his Cornetto Trilogy. Four years later and he’s finally reemerged with Baby Driver, a movie about a young getaway driver. The trailer hits a lot of genre beats we’ve seen before, so while it’s exciting, we haven’t seen much of what Wright can bring to the genre. He’s known for his humor and originality, so we want to see more of that. For the most part, the trailer focuses on action, though there is a great exchange at the end about Mike Myers the baffling comedian turned serial killer (or vice versa). We’ve seen a dozen movies in the past week about guys trying to get out of a life of crime, so it’s the Myers conversation that really makes us want to see Wright’s latest.
