Talk about the ultimate office art. LEGO just unveiled their enormous tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. It’s a life-sized (6’3″) astronaut made by LEGO Master Builders with 30,000 bricks over the course of 300 hours. Built as a 3D replica of the famous photograph taken by Neil Armstrong of fellow crewmember Buzz Aldrin standing on the Moon, no aspect was ignored including exact pose of Aldrin, the contours and shadows of the suit itself, the American flag shoulder patch, and the brilliant reflection on the helmet’s visor depicting Armstrong and the lunar module. The LEGO Astronaut will be on display in our nation’s capital this weekend at the Apollo 50 Festival.
