Oakley Built Custom Glasses for Tom Cruise Biggest ‘Mission Impossible’ Stunt Yet

With each Mission Impossible movie it seems Tom Cruise finds new ways to challenge himself with crazier and more daring stunts. The film series’ latest entry, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, features what many are calling the biggest stunt in cinema history. And Oakley sunglasses has helped Cruise achieve these new heights.

Oakley worked closely with Tom Cruise to craft the ECLP23, a one-off pair of glasses/goggles, built specifically for Cruise. In the latest Mission Impossible film, Cruise would be riding up a massive ramp off a mountain and base jumping into the valley below. To achieve this stunt, Oakley made sure the ECLP23 glasses were equipped with High Speed Protection and a wider field of view. They also sport a fastened band rather than tradition temples and the “Zero Gravity” design was contoured specifically for Tom Cruise’s face.

The Oakley ECLP23 was only made for this movie so don’t expect these radical glasses to be available out in the wild. But you can see them in action in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 this summer.
