If you haven’t yet skipped pitching the tent by the fire in favor of counting sheep in a hammock you’re missing out. Outdoor Vitals is currently running a Kickstarter project to raise funds for their innovative new sleeping bag and hammock system called MummyPod. MummyPod is a new sleeping bag setup that works as well on the ground as it does surrounding a hammock hung from two trees. Traditionally, camping hammocks are easier to carry and setup than tents and even more comfortable for a single person sleeping, but the systems—especially the ones that work in frigid conditions—have always been extremely pricey in the past. The MummyPod is available in normal or long/wide sizes with four different ratings. Each MummyPod uses a patent-pending center-zip design with gathered ends that incorporates drawstrings at each end to seal it by your feet and neck. There are even combo options that come with a tarp and hammock so you don’t have to worry about upgrading later.
