It takes a disruptor in an industry to change the way we see the potential of a product – and that’s exactly what The Kaze Pen has done. D Rocket Design saw the problem of a bolt-action pen (in which a protruding plunger mechanism often gets snagged on pants pockets and bags alike) and engineered a pen that’s both form and function. Now in its infancy (okay, let’s call it a third trimester) on Kickstarter, this pen has done exceptionally well at reinvigorating the EDC market to see what a little imagination and an emphasis on designing well can do to an everyday object like a pen. At the time of writing this article, D Rocket Design has exceeded their goal of $14,000, totaling over $35,000 with over 220 backers. Backing to receive a pen begins at $79 and the campaign ends on March 6th.
