If you travel and you think luggage can’t be both tough and protective, as well as flexible, you haven’t seen it made from high-strength and elastic carbon composite, the same kind of material used for satellites, rockets, and hypercars. Globe-Trotter has made its AERO line from this very stuff, developed with Toray Carbon Magic. The longstanding luggage brand swaps out its traditional vulcanized fiberboard construction for the space-age material but retains its conservative and sophisticated styling rather than opting for something more sculpted and modern. The line has vintage-style wooden carry handles that contrast nicely with the composite materials, and you can even add four wheels to the pieces for easy rolling. Each piece also can be outfitted with TSA locks, and they can all take stratosphere levels of punishment while remaining lighter than comparable pieces made from more conventional materials.
