Own Churchill’s Lemania Chronograph

Lemania is a watch manufacturer that’s been around since the late 1800s but hasn’t had its name on the face of a watch in quite a long time. That’s due to becoming a part of Brequet and, ultimately, Swatch. If you want to own a historic Lemania watch, you won’t do better than the one given to Sir Winston Churchill by the Canton of Vaud in 1946. Yes, that’s right. You can own Churchill’s Lemania Chronograph. The translated engraving on the back reads “From the Canton of Vaud to its famous guest Mr. Winston Churchill August-September 1946” It was presented to Churchill after a stay in the village of Bursinel and the infamous “Let Europe Arise” speech given at the University of Zurich. The watch itself is a yellow gold chrono with a 17 jewel movement, outer minute track, three subdials, and 30-minute and 12 hour registers. If you want a watch as legendary as the man that owned it, this is it. The watch is set to be auctioned by Sotheby’s as part of their Watches sale on April 25, 2017. It’s expected to bring between $18,000 and $31,000.
