In the 1960s, baseball legend Ted “The Kid” Williams signed on with Sears to develop and market a line of household sports equipment. One of the most notable pieces to come out of the deal were the SuperSetter 888 boots developed in partnership with Red Wing. Red Wing’s Heritage collection used that iconic boot as inspiration for their new 8180 boots. The original’s were referred to as Kangatan boots because of their use of green Kangatan Portage leather, and that has been carried over to this new iteration of the Kangatan boot. It’s still a moc toe boot, but the combat boot styling of the original has been modified with contrast stitching, laces and a Traction Tred outsole. It’s one of the coolest pair of boots we’ve seen in a while, especially because of the history.
