hen it comes to sneakers, most of us live and die by the Swoosh with very few exceptions. There’s never been a better time to back the Nike brand because they’ve been re-releasing some of their tried-and-true stalwarts from the archives with modern archives. Case in point–the new Nike Challenger that’s been purpose built for a modern era. Rory Fraser, Nike Senior Global Product Manager, had this to say–“After re-releasing the Tailwind OG, Waffle Racer and Daybreak, we wanted to follow up with a model from the same era, but with a slightly different upper construction. The Challenger has more splits and panels, allowing us to play around with material and color in a slightly new way — and providing fans of the classics with something different to add to their closets.” In practice, that means a style that remains true to the OG with its combination of nylon, suede and mesh, while also having a widened heel for a more comfy fit and more bold color options based on the original’s material differences. The Nike Challenger OG will be released later this summer on all Nike platforms for an as-of-yet unconfirmed price.
