Converse sneakers, particularly iconic Chucks, have seen plenty of iterations over the past few years that are worth talking about. This latest variation, the Urban Utility Hiker, joins the ranks of the Chuck Taylor All Star 100, Waterproof Thermo-Boots and Nubuck options in that they’re still obviously Chucks, but they’re built for situations you wouldn’t normally expect to be wearing sneakers in. It’s clear from the looks and build quality that the Converse Urban Utility Chuck 70 Utility Hiker is a shoe more on the utilitarian side. Gore-Tex seam sealed membrane for waterproof capabilities. Elastic closure with cotton laces for a secure fit. Fused upper with reflective panel for visibility. But Nike/Converse didn’t skimp on the stylish details either, because the safety orange sockliner doesn’t seem to serve any other purpose than being a cool pop of color against the shoe, and they didn’t sacrifice anything in the sleek silhouette department with all the new technical additions. This is another pair of iconic Chucks you can wear just about anywhere.
