Despite being, dare we say, an entry level AMG, the CLA 45 embodies all that makes the AMG line so special. Horsepower is up nearly 150 ponies over the base-line CLA. Forcing air through the 2.0 liter four cylinder engine is a single turbocharger with twin scroll that generates an unheard of 26lbs of boost on premium gasoline. For the sake of conversation, this is the most powerful 4 cylinder engine in the world. AMG even engineered the turbo to achieve full boost at a low 1700 rpms, important information if you dislike the dreaded boost lag of turbocharged engines. AMG improves upon the CLA by adding 18 inch AMG wheels, body styling, oversize front apron, and very handsome contrast stitching on the performance bucket seats as well as carbon fiber trim throughout the interior. Mercedes Benz is even doing their part for sustainability by using an environmentally friendly water based paint sealed with a ceramic clear coating. So now we can feel sort of green while bombing down the highway. Cool! Available this fall
