If you were to drop a cool thou on a point-and-shoot pocket camera, some many would call you crazy. Things are starting to change, however, and carrying around a bulky DSLR might not be the only option to consider when you’re shelling out that kind of cash. The Nikon Coolpix A is crammed with a DSLR-sized DX-format APS-C sensor and comes with a 18.5mm lens with a f/2.8 aperture. The benefits of these are obvious, some of the drawbacks – no zoom and you’re always shooting wide-angle – are what had to be sacrificed in the process (also a sheep). It’s compact, lightweight (10.6 oz), and easy enough to carry around on a daily basis without looking like a fanny pack toting tourist. *NOTE – No sheep were harmed in the making of the Coolpix A (… we think).
