When we first saw the blurb about the Olive ONE HD Music Player, we thought the same thing you’re probably thinking right now–I don’t need another music player, that’s why I have Pandora/Spotify/Airplay. We initially dismissed it, but that was a mistake. Olive (the company, not the martini accoutrement) manufacturers ridiculously high end HD audio systems and servers, but nothing like ONE. ONE is designed to sit in the middle of a room and act as a sort of souped up nerve center for your entire home music experience. It works with everything you’re used to: PC, Mac, iPhone, Android, Bluetooth, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, Google Play, the list goes on an on. But it does better than all those other options because of its 32-bit/384kHz Burr-Brown DAC and the dual HD amplifiers. We have no idea what that means, but the audiophile at work that still insists on ripping CDs just said “wow.” The point is, it’s high-quality sound without a convenience sacrifice and it won’t make your living room look like Best Buy.
