JURA’s New Coffee Machine Is Overqualified for Your Countertop

For those who take their at-home coffee seriously, this makes 51 different drinks.

Meet the new JURA Z10 Gen 2. It’s a coffee machine. A fancy one that can make 51 different drinks, regulate your caffeine intake, whip up chocolate foam, and have your morning coffee waiting for you on a timer.

The latest version of JURA’s fully automatic coffee machine is built around what the brand calls four “worlds of indulgence”: Hot Brew, Light Brew, Cold Brew, and Sweet Foam. In other words, it can handle just about whatever kind of coffee you’re in the mood for. From a straightforward espresso or flat white to cold brew, sweeter milk-based drinks, and lighter coffee specialties.

Notice we said cold brew. The Z10 Gen 2 doesn’t simply make hot coffee and dump it over ice. No, no, no. JURA’s Cold Extraction Process bypasses the heating element and slowly pulses cold water through ground coffee to make actual cold brew directly from the machine, resulting in a smoother, more refreshing cup. On the opposite end of the spectrum, its Sweet Foam function can flavor milk foam, while a new chocolate attachment opens the door to one-touch mochaccinos and chocolate foam creations.

Behind all of that is the P.R.G.2+, or the Product Recognizing Grinder, which automatically adjusts the grind size and amount of coffee depending on what you’ve ordered. Choose an espresso, cold brew mochaccino, flat white, or one of the other 48 options (51 specialties total) and the machine handles the particulars for you.

But despite everything happening behind the scenes, actually ordering your coffee is relatively straightforward. There’s a 4.3-inch touchscreen alongside JURA’s Rotary Dial, plus customizable user profiles. Which seems particularly useful in a household where “coffee” means a double espresso to one person and a cold, sweet, foamy production to another.

The Diamond Onyx finish gives the already sculptural machine an appropriately dark, polished look. At $4,399, it is unquestionably a serious piece of coffee equipment. But it’s also the sort of machine where reading the feature list starts to explain the number on the price tag.

Fifty-one drinks. Four different brewing styles. Hot coffee. Ready-to-drink light brew. Actual cold brew. Sweet foam. Chocolate foam. Adjustable caffeine. An automatically adjusting grinder. Scheduled coffee.

Frankly, calling it a coffee machine feels like an undersell. This thing is a full-blown Chief Coffee Officer.
