1971 Chevrolet Corvette ZR2

1971 Chevrolet Corvette ZR2

The upcoming Corvette ZR1 is a bona fide high-tech supercar, but it’s this final 1971 ZR2 that should get all the attention. Only 12 were made and all in a single year, 1971. The beast housed a monstrous 7.4 liter big-block V8 engine good for 425 horsepower and 475 lb ft of torque. The power numbers are, according to experts, underrated. The car was meant for racing, and it has heavy-duty suspension, upgraded power brakes and alloy radiator, and a close-ratio Muncie M22 4-speed manual transmission to back that up. It was better in every way than the ZR1 that was sold at the same time, but it’s extremely limited production means it sells at auction for upwards of a million bucks. This ZR2 is clad in Brands Hatch Green over a Green interior and has a mere 10 miles on the odometer, which means mint. This highly coveted ‘Vette is up for auction at Mecum now.
